Superintendent's Message

At Zapata County ISD, we believe in Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders..every student, every day. We believe that every employee can be a leader, no matter their role. We value every member of our organization as critical in our quest to provide maximum opportunities for our students.

WE ARE ZCISD is a shared believe that guides the work we do every day...

We CONNECT WITH ALL by building trusting relationships, communicating effectively and cultivating a safe, positive culture.
Our staff is committed to ensuring the well being of all of our students and their families. ZCISD ensures that all of our students are equipped with all the school supplies they need to get them started on the right foot, we provide uniforms and other essential items in support of their health and well-being and we assist our families in preparing their children for school.

We INSPIRE GROWTH by developing self & others and fostering ownership. At ZCISD we involve students, parents, faculty and staff in learning opportunities through parenting sessions, the parent engagement and learning summit, professional development and opportunities to serve on district-wide committees designed to gather input so that we can provide for our students.

We STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE by leading with Purpose & Vision and celebrating successes. Our extended school community has worked together to set a vision for our district. We have a 5 year strategic plan developed by a committee of students, parents, teachers, board members and administrators. We continuously strive to improve and believe in making sure there is a quality teacher in every classroom and that they are equipped with the tools they need to help each and every student find their strengths and passions.

We DRIVE RESULTS by engaging in problem solving, driving continuous improvement and making data-driven decisions. Over the course of the last two years, in spite of the many challenges school districts are facing such as a lack of funding from the state and a changing accountability system, our district continues to demonstrate growth on STAAR Tests, attendance, and graduation rates. In addition to increased academic performance, our students are given every opportunity to shine in their areas of strength. We have a state champion One-Act Play, a state qualifying power lifter, outstanding band and mariachi groups, competitive athletic programs, award winning cheer and dance groups as well as high performing UIL events. Our FFA program is an excellent example of leadership in our students. We are providing theater, band, music and athletics in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Zapata, to our elementary students to help cultivate a culture of growth and competitiveness.

As we embark on this new school year, let's remember that we are EMPOWERING TOMORROW'S LEADERS. Together WE believe that we can achieve great things, making this year one of growth, learning and success for all.
