About the Director
Mrs. Janie Rodriguez presently serves as the Director of Career and College Readiness and Career Technical Education. Mrs. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and has a master’s in Counseling and Guidance from TAMUK . She holds a Secondary Biology Teaching Certificate, Counseling and Guidance Certificate, a Mid Management Certificate and as well as Instructional Leadership Training.
Mrs. Rodriguez’ educational journey began as a science teacher at Zapata Middle School and later became the first Health Science Technology Teacher at Zapata High School and taught Biology and AP Biology as well. Her career also includes being an assistant principal and principal for ZCISD.
Mrs. Rodriguez has served the campuses and district in various leadership capacities and sponsorships. She has been a sponsor for UIL Science, Prose & Poetry, Middle school cheerleading, HS folkloric, HOSA chapter and class sponsor. She has served on the campus and District Planning and Decision making team for both ZMS and ZHS and high school science lead teacher. Mrs. Rodriguez was was one of the team members that implemented distance learning classes in 2004 in conjunction with Laredo Community College.
In her present capacity she oversees the compliance of the Career Technical Education Program, Counseling and Guidance, Advanced Academics and College Readiness. She takes great pride in serving the youth of Zapata.
